Re-stretching a rippled carpet
Waves and ripples across a lounge or landing don't mean the carpet is finished — they mean it has relaxed or was never stretched properly in the first place. I lift the carpet at one or two edges, re-stretch it across the room with a power stretcher, trim it back onto the gripper and re-fix the thresholds.
It's a tidy job with no need to empty the whole room in most cases, and it takes years of tripping hazard and uneven wear out of the floor.

Patches, burns and pet damage
Cigarette burns, iron marks, bleach spots and chewed doorway edges can usually be patched. The trick is taking the patch from a hidden area — inside a fitted wardrobe, under a sofa, or from an offcut — and matching the pile direction so the light hits it the same way. Done properly, most people can't find the repair afterwards.

When a repair isn't worth it
I'll always tell you straight. If the backing has perished, the carpet has been flooded, or the pile is worn through across a whole traffic route, a repair is money badly spent and you're better replacing the room. Send a photo before booking and you'll get an honest answer either way.
Common questions
Why has my carpet gone wrinkly?
Ripples nearly always mean the carpet wasn't stretched hard enough when it was fitted, or humidity and heavy furniture have let it relax. It's fixable — the carpet is lifted at one or two edges, re-stretched with a power stretcher and re-trimmed onto the gripper.
Can a burn or stain be patched?
Yes, if there's an offcut or a hidden area to take a patch from (inside a wardrobe or under a sofa). A properly cut and bonded patch, with the pile direction matched, is very hard to spot.
Can you repair carpet the dog has chewed at a doorway?
Usually. Pet damage at a threshold or on a stair nosing can be patched or the edge re-made and finished with a door bar. Send a photo and I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth repairing or replacing.
How much do carpet repairs cost?
Repairs are charged from the £60 minimum, the same as fitting. Most single-room re-stretches or patches fall within that. I'll confirm the price before I start.
